This Is Me

Hi, I’m Johnnathan, known as JD to everyone except my partner who calls me John.

Brisbane born and raised; I started my career as a cabinet maker before moving into healthcare. My love of timber and making things remains; I enjoy creating furniture and collecting bits for future projects. I took a leap of faith about six years ago and became a Civil Celebrant which seemed like a natural progression from healthcare, a compassionate environment which requires great communication skills and the ability to listen.

In 2018, we moved to the ‘country,’ and built a house near Boonah in the beautiful Scenic Rim. My partner and I have been landscaping our property, spending endless hours on the ride on mower, and share our space with Tiggin, an opinionated but beautiful (she knows it) Siamese cat, and Remy. Remy is a young Kelpie labrador cross who is full of life and joy and keeps us on our toes.

I have six gorgeous grandchildren who are growing up far too quickly.

There isn’t much more to say but let’s play 10 questions:

1. Tea or coffee?
A: Coffee, coffee, coffee, and the occasional tea.

2. What is your favourite food?
A: Savoury mince

3. Favourite movie?
A: The Fifth Element. I’ve always been a Bruce Willis fan, and this movie is totally different.

4. First car:
A: Holden Torana. She was a yellow beauty.

5. Qualities you admire in people?
A: Decency, respect, non-judgemental, and easy going

6. Do you like being bald?
A: I’m trying my hardest to look like Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, so I’m OK with it.

7. If you could have any fictional character’s wardrobe, what would it be?
A: Blade. Wesley Snipes looks amazing in that outfit.

8. If you could have dinner with a famous person (living or dead), who would you choose?
A: Bruce Willis and Ryan Reynolds.

9. What’s your favourite song to sing in the car?

A: Mr Roboto by the Styx or Separate Ways by Journey

10. How do others describe others describe you?
A: I’ve never asked but I think they would say that I am easy going and friendly.
